2011-2012 Innovations in Early Education:
A Seminar Series for Early Childhood Educators
For twelve years, Wayne State University has sponsored the Innovations seminar series regarding issues related to innovative early childhood education theory, philosophy and practice for teachers and caregivers of children from birth to eight years old. Each year, this series offers ongoing developmentally appropriate professional development that focuses on a relevant early childhood education topic through a series of related seminars with nationally recognized educators as keynote speakers. Seminar participants also have the opportunity to network with colleagues from southeast Michigan and the surrounding area through small and large group discussion sessions.
This year, our focus is on giving visibility to learning and relationships in educational communities in collaboration with children, educators and families. Speakers will be addressing this topic through experiences with infants and toddlers, preschool and elementary children. Participants can earn Wayne State University credit hours (one credit/seminar) or .5 SB-CEUs per seminar as well as certificates of participation that document clock hours of training required by state licensing.
Please consider attending the Innovations seminar series this year and inform your early childhood colleagues working with children from birth to eight years old in child care centers and public schools of this professional development opportunity. Feel free to pass on the attached brochure with registration form. If you would prefer hard copies of the brochure, please let me know.
